Hey guys!
I recently finished this Batman illustration and I wanted to show you my process, because, even though I don’t draw a lot of DC comics characters, everybody has loved it that I drew Batman for a change.
This is the first part below. Well, really the second stage, because a rough layout goes first.
For the pencils stage I drew on a Bristol Board, as usual. I used a mechanical pencil, but I also used a 2B pencil to fill in the blacks.
After the pencils were finished, I decided that I wanted to make a color poster of this piece. So, to do that, the next stage would be the inking stage.
For this stage I used India ink. I don’t know if anybody uses any other type of ink. This is the same that people called “tinta China”. I used a number 1 and number 3 brush and Micron fineliner.
Now, the last stage, the digital coloring:
I actually had fun coloring this because I just bought a new pen display drawing tablet. The one I got is a Huion Kamvas Pro 13 (2.5k). I’ve been playing with it lately and coloring some pieces for fun. This time I wanted to color my own lineart. The software used was Adobe Photoshop, which is the industry standard, I always do my digital coloring in Photoshop.
I hope you guys liked it. Hopefully I’ll be selling this piece as a print at Comic Con República Dominicana!
Thank you guys, for reading this short blog post about my process for this piece. Take care!
